The Latest Horrifying Addition to Universal Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights: Guns N’ Roses Guitarist Slash

You might not know this, but Slash, the top hat-wearing guitarist best known for his work with Guns N’ Roses, has been an almost annual part of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights for over a decade now—specifically the West Coast branch out at Universal Hollywood. It apparently started in 2014, when he made the music for a house called Clowns 3D: Music by Slash, and also appeared within the house in prop form. He’s done music for several houses since then, and now the two are about to take this special relationship to the next level. Slash’s gonna be all over Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Hollywood this year, the theme park announced today.

Here’s what Slashheads can look forward to this Halloween. He’s written an original score for a house called Scarecrow: Music by Slash—a house “in which Mother Nature seeks vengeance on the homesteaders for their sins of the past,” which sounds like it could also be one of those insanely overwrought Guns N’ Roses videos from the Use Your Illusion albums. There’ll also be a new, exclusive, vinyl-only compilation of music Slash has written for Halloween Horror Nights, following up a similar record that sold out last year. And there’ll even be a Slash-themed bar, called, appropriately enough, Slash Bar. Slash Bar will be located at Jurassic Cove, and will feature themed cocktails, Slash’s favorite foods (including a top hat-shaped cake), and a soundtrack of Slash’s music. There’ll even be a Slash “scare-actor” looming above you on stilts. 

In a statement included in Universal’s press release Slash exclaims how excited he is about this year’s event. “As a longtime fan of Halloween Horror Nights, it has been incredibly rewarding to not only have experienced the event as a guest, but to have partnered with Universal Studios Hollywood for so many years to create an array of original music that intensifies the storylines of these haunted houses,” the guitarist says. “This year’s collaboration with Halloween Horror Nights and the chance to become one of the event’s marquee experiences is truly humbling and I can’t wait for the guests to join me when they step into the terror.”
