CD PROJEKT RED and Go On Board Announce A New Witcher Board Game

The Witcher fans have another entry into the universe to look forward to. CD PROJEKT RED and Go On Board have announced a new board game called The Witcher: Legacy.

It’s marketed as an immersive story-driven experience that can be played solo or with up to four players, featuring “a rich, branching narrative with consequences that carry over from session to session.” This will be the third board game collaboration between CD PROJEKT and Go On Board, following The Witcher: Old World and The Witcher: Path of Destiny.

Players will adopt the role of Wolf School witchers who are on a hunt for those behind a devastating attack on the school. The game takes place in the kingdom of Kaedwen, where players can manage resources, train their skills, battle monsters, and more as they “unravel a conspiracy that threatens the very existence of witchers.”

The Gamefound page is already live. Anyone who follows it now and participates in the crowdfunding campaign later will receive an exclusive Gorgon monster miniature. Notably, the announcement says this bull-like creature has never appeared in any of the Witcher video games. It’ll be interesting to see if it makes an appearance in The Witcher 4 as a huge nuisance for Ciri. The Gamefound page also states that the game is for ages 14+ and contains 30+ hours of main story gameplay.

As noted before, the board game scene is no stranger to The Witcher universe. According to the announcement, The Witcher: Old World sold over 192,000 copies and ranks among “the top 10 biggest board game crowdfunding campaigns of all time.” And if you were going off of the early reviews at the bottom of the Gamefound page, it seems The Witcher: Legacy could make a similar splash if its future crowdfunding campaign succeeds.
