Everything Announced in the 7/31 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase

Today, Nintendo held its first post-Switch 2 Direct, a Partner Showcase that highlighted third-party games coming to both the original Switch and Switch 2. While some of the games shown are releases already available on other platforms that are headed for the Switch 2 thanks to its improved graphical capabilities, there were a couple of surprises, including a pair of reveals from Square Enix. Let’s run down the announcements.
Action RPG The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Announced
Square Enix revealed a brand new 2D-HD action RPG, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. It takes place in a kingdom beset by monsters, and stars the adventurer Eliot and the fairy Fae as they journey into the world. The game is a real-time action game with RPG mechanics. It features seven weapon types, like bows and swords, each of which can be upgraded with materials that change their properties. The game can also be played in co-op with the second player controlling Fae. It’s coming to the Switch 2 in 2026, and its demo is out today.
New Octopath Traveler Game Revealed, Coming Out In December
Square Enix announced another 2D-HD RPG in Octopath Traveler 0, a sequel (prequel?) in the series that features turn-based combat and base-building elements. It’s out December 4, 2025 on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Announced
Capcom showed off a new Monster Hunter spin-off game, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and it’s coming to the Switch 2 in 2026. It has an art style reminiscent of the recent Legend of Zelda games, and follows a Rathalos rider who is caught in the middle of a war. While gameplay wasn’t shown, the previous Monster Hunter Stories games were turn-based RPGs.
New Katamari Game Coming Later This Year
Katamari is making its return with Once Upon A KATAMARI, a new entry that will star the prince as he rolls through different time periods. It features co-op and has a soundtrack with artists who have contributed throughout the series. It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2025.
Plants Vs. Zombies Remake Coming Out This October
PopCap’s iconic Plants Vs. Zombies series is getting a remaster that will feature upscaled graphics and an additional co-op mode. It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 23.
