While it wasn’t directly confirmed, it’s probably fair to assume that these two teams are the group that developed last year’s Silent Hill 2 remake, and the one that made this year’s Cronos: The New Dawn. By this logic (and also common sense), it seems most likely that the team that developed the previous Silent Hill remake will handle this one.
No release window has been provided for the latest remake, and given that we haven’t seen any footage, it seems likely that the game is in a very early state, but it’s worth noting that the Silent Hill 2 remake was revealed roughly two years before it was released. Again, these are significantly different circumstances, as Bloober likely wanted to ensure the Silent Hill 2 remake was decently far along before announcing this long-awaited comeback for this beloved series, but maybe Bloober will somehow buck all trends by making a modern high-production value game in two years (I certainly wouldn’t bet on it, but anything is possible, I guess).
Beyond this, the investor call also provided news on their recently released survival horror game Cronos: The New Dawn, specifically that Bloober is interested in expanding on the series in the future. “Cronos is our first major IP. The team responsible for it has now started working on another project, but we definitely intend to further expand the IP in the future—across many areas of exploitation. We have high hopes for it.” Basically, it seems that while a sequel isn’t currently in development, this is something the studio is considering.
So far, the game has sold over 200,000 digital copies across all platforms, and company management said that it expects to “achieve significant profits from this project.”
