Other new features include a new weapon-based, Okinawa-inspired combat style called Ryukyu Style, as well as a new life sim element that portrays daily life at the orphanage. The life sim will include cooking, fishing, doing homework, and other activities that will let Kiryu deepen his bonds with the children. Each child will also be getting their own substory to show their growth at the orphanage. One more notable addition to this remake is a team battle mode called Legendary Baddie, Bad Boy Dragon, where Kiryu leads customizable bike gangs in tactical battles.
As for Dark Ties, it will be a prequel focused on Yoshitaka Mine’s backstory. Set in Kamurocho, Tokyo, players will see how Mine joined the criminal underworld while experiencing both his boxing-focused combat style and uncharacteristic karaoke skills. There will also be a mode called Kanda Damage Control, where players can help Mine’s brother Kanda raise his reputation through missions, as well as another mode called Hell’s Arena, where players participate in an underground fight club by battling under specific conditions. This latter new feature also includes its own survival mode. Combined as a set, Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Tides will be released worldwide on February 12, 2026.
Beyond this, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will come to the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13, 2025. These two games will come to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on December 8, 2025, with additional language support. Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will also be coming to these platforms on the same day. Lastly, a live-action production featuring Kiryu was announced to be in development from the team behind the popular Japanese crime series Nihon Touitsu.
RGG just doesn’t seem to rest. But, considering December 8 will be the 20-year anniversary of the Like A Dragon and Yakuza series, it makes sense that they’re going full steam ahead on new content for a series that the studio and many fans have loved for years.
