Everything Announced in the 7/31 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase

Today, Nintendo held its first post-Switch 2 Direct, a Partner Showcase that highlighted third-party games coming to both the original Switch and Switch 2. While some of the games shown are releases already available on other platforms that are headed for the Switch 2 thanks to its improved graphical capabilities, there were a couple of surprises, including a pair of reveals from Square Enix. Let’s run down the announcements.

Action RPG The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Announced

Square Enix revealed a brand new 2D-HD action RPG, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. It takes place in a kingdom beset by monsters, and stars the adventurer Eliot and the fairy Fae as they journey into the world. The game is a real-time action game with RPG mechanics. It features seven weapon types, like bows and swords, each of which can be upgraded with materials that change their properties. The game can also be played in co-op with the second player controlling Fae. It’s coming to the Switch 2 in 2026, and its demo is out today.

New Octopath Traveler Game Revealed, Coming Out In December

Square Enix announced another 2D-HD RPG in Octopath Traveler 0, a sequel (prequel?) in the series that features turn-based combat and base-building elements. It’s out December 4, 2025 on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Announced

Capcom showed off a new Monster Hunter spin-off game, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and it’s coming to the Switch 2 in 2026. It has an art style reminiscent of the recent Legend of Zelda games, and follows a Rathalos rider who is caught in the middle of a war. While gameplay wasn’t shown, the previous Monster Hunter Stories games were turn-based RPGs.

New Katamari Game Coming Later This Year

Katamari is making its return with Once Upon A KATAMARI, a new entry that will star the prince as he rolls through different time periods. It features co-op and has a soundtrack with artists who have contributed throughout the series. It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2025.

Plants Vs. Zombies Remake Coming Out This October

PopCap’s iconic Plants Vs. Zombies series is getting a remaster that will feature upscaled graphics and an additional co-op mode. It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 23.

Pacman World 2 Re-pac Announced

The 3D platformer Pacman World 2 is getting a from-the-ground-up remake that includes co-op and other additions. It’s headed to the Switch and Switch 2 on September 26.

Cronos: The New Dawn Gets New Trailer And Release Date

Bloober Team’s survival horror game Cronos: The New Dawn got a new trailer that gave us a look at its open-ended horror gameplay. We saw how enemy monsters could absorb their downed allies, and that you receive upgrades by absorbing lingering souls, which comes with the unfortunate side-effect of hallucinations. It will be interesting to see if Bloober Team can build on the generally positive reception of their Silent Hill 2 remake when Cronos comes to the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 5.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Gets New Trailer

The upcoming installment in the Hyrule Warriors series was shown. It will take place before Tears of the Kingdom, when a certain character gets whisked into the past. No specific release date was announced, but it’s currently slated for a winter release.

FC26 Headed To Switch

After a string of questionable releases on the Switch, EA’s soccer series (that used to be called FIFA) is coming to the Switch and Switch 2. It’s out on September 26.

EA Sports Madden 26 Gets Switch 2 Trailer

It seems the Switch is getting third-party sports game support from EA, as Madden 26 is also headed to the Switch 2 with an August 14 release date.

Final Fantasy Tactics Ivalice Chronicles Trailer Shown

A trailer for the upcoming remake of Final Fantasy Tactics was shown, highlighting its new dialogue and remastered graphics. It’s out on both Switches on September 30, 2025.

Just Dance 2026 Gets Trailer

Just Dance continues to exist, and the latest game will have tracks by Dua Lipa, Madonna, and more. It’s releasing October 14 on the Nintendo Switch.

Other Announcements

Last year’s Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is coming to the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 on November 14, 2025.

The Persona 3 remake, Persona 3 Reload, is coming to the Switch 2 on October 23.

The campfire simulator Chillin’ by the Fire was revealed, and it’s available today.

Apex Legends is headed to the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 5 alongside the game’s new season, Showdown.

Hela was revealed, and it’s a third-person adventure game starring a rodent familiar who is attempting to revive their witch. It will be playable in co-op and is coming out in 2026.

The open-world action game Star Wars Outlaws is headed to the Switch 2 September 4.

Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2, remakes of the first two games in the series, are coming to the Switch 2 on November 13.

And lastly, a montage showed other games coming to the Switch and/or Switch 2, including Goodnight Universe (November 11), NBA Bounce (September 26), Hello Kitty Island World Adventure Wheatflour Wonderland (Fall 2025), Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven (Today), Shinobi: Art of Vengeance (August 29), and Borderlands 4 (October 3).
