One of the best games of 2025 just got an unexpected spinoff, and it’s totally free. Citizen Sleeper: Spindlejack is a single-player tabletop roleplaying game set in the world of Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, which was one of the first great games of 2025. All you’ll need to play Spindlejack is a printer, a pencil, an eraser, and 10 six-sided dice. You don’t even need to be a big tabletop player to have those lying around—just go raid those old Monopoly and Clue boxes in the basement.

Spindlejack focuses on the courier aspect of Citizen Sleeper, and takes inspiration specifically from the character Kadet in this year’s sequel. After printing out the game’s two PDF files—a rulebook and a map and playsheet—you can get to rolling your way through deliveries on the space station known as the Far Spindle. With the distinctive art of Guillaume Singelin and design by Citizen Sleeper creator Gareth Damian Martin, Spindlejack is a smart, seamless expansion of Citizen Sleeper’s concept and aesthetic into a new gaming frontier. And the best thing is it’s both free and meant for single players, so you won’t have to round up any friends to play through it.

Citizen Sleeper: Spindlejack can be downloaded for free at the itch.io page for Martin’s company Jump Over the Age. Don’t expect anything as deep as the two Citizen Sleeper videogames, but it’s worthy spinoff from the main games that’s quick, easy to play, and, again, totally free.
