Pokémon’s First Permanent Theme Park Will Open in February 2026

PokéPark Kanto, the Pokémon franchise’s first permanent theme park land, will be open to the public on Feb. 5, 2026. The park will be a large outdoor attraction, and located inside Yomiuriland, the largest theme park in Tokyo.

PokéPark will be split into two large areas, a Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town, and promises to allow attendees to take on the role of trainers. At the entrance plaza, parkgoers will choose from the three Kanto starter Pokémon, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. The Pokémon Forest will be a wooded trail in which visitors-turned-trainers can observe a variety of Pokémon in the form of statues, all while exploring and battling. Sedge Town will offer various rides, merch at the Pokémon center, refreshments at the Trainer’s Mart, and stage shows with dancing Pikachus at the Sedge Gym.

The first PokéPark was a travelling attraction that was originally open between March to September of 2005. PokéPark Kanto promises to be a permanent iteration of the original concept, and plans to feature over 600 different Pokémon across the entire park. Video game theme parks have been growing in number in recent years, and Nintendo has been taking the lead with its Super Nintendo Worlds located at Universal Studios Japan, Universal Studios Hollywood, and most recently, Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida.

Tickets for PokéPark Kanto will be sold by lottery starting on Nov. 21, 2025. This system is specifically for residents of Japan, with information on how to purchase tickets for visitors outside of the country coming soon. Special passes for the park will also be available. The Ace Trainer’s Pass will let parkgoers freely enter both the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town areas, as well as offer priority lane access for attractions and reserved seats for the Sedge Gym show. The Trainer’s Pass gives unlimited access to Sedge Town, but gives a timeslot for the Pokémon Forest. The Town Pass gives entry only to Sedge Town.
