As reported by Kotaku, the biggest Final Fantasy Universes Beyond Magic: The Gathering deal is the four-deck bundle on Amazon. Each of the 100-card decks comes with a Commander as well as a two-card collector booster sample pack. The bundle includes Final Fantasy VI’s Revival Trance, Final Fantasy VII’s Limit Break, Final Fantasy X’s Counter Blitz, and Final Fantasy XIV’s Scions & Spellcraft. Though it usually retails for $280 on Amazon, the bundle currently has a limited time deal bringing the price down to just $190—less than $50 per deck.
The individual decks themselves are also selling for cheaper on average. Revival Trance, Counter Blitz, and Scions & Spellcraft are all retailing at around $50 at stores like Target and Walmart. If you want Cloud as your Commander, though, you’re gonna have to pay extra, as Limit Break is currently going for the original pre-order price of $70.
Wizards of the Coast launched the Universes Beyond series in 2020, and since then Magic: The Gathering has had partnerships with IPs such as The Walking Dead, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, and more. The Commander format of MTG, which features a 100-card deck revolving around a Commander and plays for three to five players, was released in 2011, and has since become the most popular format of the card game.
Hopefully the Final Fantasy decks will continue to get cheaper, but in the meantime it’s great to see them finally being sold at a somewhat reasonable price.
