Cool Game Alert: The Anti-AI Cheerleader Beat ‘Em Up Ra Ra Boom

By this point it seems pretty obvious that AI is going to destroy the world. Sure, that’s a total sci-fi cliche, but look at what’s happening right now, just a couple years into the mainstreaming of commercial AI apps: students aren’t learning how to learn, the computer mills that power AI are waging a full-on assault against the environment, pretty much every job is on the chopping block, and the biggest users are literally losing their minds to AI-encouraged psychotic delusions. And just yesterday Elon Musk’s AI went full Nazi over on Twitter, straight-up calling for a new Holocaust. AI’s busted, and it’s going to bust all of us.

But not if the cheerleaders of Ra Ra Boom can bust it first. Gylee Games’ upcoming beat ’em up comes out swinging with a strong anti-AI hook that we here at Endless Mode can’t resist. Up to four players can take control of the space ninja cheerleaders Aris, Ren, Saida, and Vee and brawl their way through an AI-created hellscape en route to taking down the program that caused the whole mess in the first place. And unlike the typical side-scrolling beat ’em up, Ra Ra Boom lets you unleash some ranged combat, as well.

Don’t take our word for it, though. Gylee released a trailer for Ra Ra Boom today, and announced an August 12 release date for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. That trailer makes Ra Ra Boom look like a bruising, brawling, hell of a time, and also reveals some of the unique strengths of each cheerleader. And oh, get a load of that hand-drawn art: it looks killer.

Ra Ra Boom looks like a cool take on the venerable beat ’em up genre, and it also promises a “surprisingly narrative-rich campaign” full of teenage turmoil and emotion that we should all be able to relate to. It’s definitely on our radar for next month, and I have to imagine this trailer will put it on yours, too. Check out that video below, and look for more on Ra Ra Boom here at Endless Mode in the weeks to come.
