Cyberpunk 2077, Abiotic Factor Come to PlayStation Plus in July

PlayStation Plus turned 15 at the end of June—which, frankly, makes me feel like an entire mummy—and subscribers will get to celebrate with a good slate of new additions in July. Headlining this month’s games is CD Projekt Red’s colossal Cyberpunk 2077, which hits PlayStation Plus for the first time. Also on deck is Don’t Nod’s overlooked ‘24 folk horror RPG Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and the brand new Abiotic Factor. The bill is rounded out by Bluey: The Videogame, Planet Zoo, Risk of Rain 2, Tropico 6, and New World: Aeternum. And PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers get a double-dose of Twisted Metal, just in time for the return of the Peacock TV series, with Twisted Metal 3 and 4 hitting the service.

Cyberpunk 2077 has rebounded from an infamously disastrous launch to become one of the most acclaimed games of the decade so far. And even though it turns five later this year, 2025 is still a big one for the RPG from the folks who gave us The Witcher. Beyond arriving on PlayStation Plus for the first time, it also made its Nintendo debut alongside the launch of the Switch 2 in June. That turnaround was fully sealed with the release of the 2023 expansion Phantom Liberty, which isn’t a part of the PlayStation Plus release but will be on sale for 30% off, exclusively for PS Plus subscribers, through July 23. If you were scared off of Cyberpunk 2077 by the initial response, now’s a good time to reinvestigate. Both the PS5 and PS4 versions will be available through PlayStation Plus as of today, July 9.

Abiotic Factor is a new one, an open world survival jawn with a lot of crafting and up to six players at a time. PlayStack Limited’s game has an intentionally goofy aesthetic involving weird science and top secret experiments gone awry, and that kind of sense of humor can go a long way when it works—and nowhere at all when it doesn’t. Hopefully Abiotic Factor pulls it off. This one’s playable on the PlayStation 5 on launch, which is July 22.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden didn’t make much of a splash when it dropped early last year, which was a shame. Don’t Nod’s colonial ghost story has its hang-ups but the action RPG tells a mature, restrained story in a time and place that’s relatively underexplored by modern videogames. It’s the kind of game that could find its audience through a service like PlayStation Plus, and if you have a PlayStation 5 you might want to check it out.

The rest of the month’s platform availability breaks down like this: Bluey will be out for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, whereas the zoo-builder Planet Zoo is only for the PlayStation 5. Horde shooter Risk of Rain 2 is on both consoles, as is the strategy game Tropico 6. And the action RPG New World: Aeternum will only be available for PlayStation 5 owners. And finally, if you splurge for the Premium plan, you’ll be able to snag those two Twisted Metal games for either the PS5 or PS4.

Cyberpunk 2077 is up today, July 9. Abiotic Factor releases on July 22, and all other games will be on PlayStation Plus starting on July 15. The 15th for the 15th birthday: nice.
