Beyond sales, the game has also won acclaim from across the industry. Our review by Elijah Gonzalez especially praised the deep combat, calling it “probably the best implementation of real-time action commands I’ve ever seen in an RPG” and praising the “striking use of color and consistently odd flourishes” in the game’s diverse environments. Around the world, people have taken to cosplaying the Baguette outfits you can equip in the game at conventions (some even started making their own fake baguettes to cut down on food waste). And you can probably expect it to rack up a fair amount of “game of the year” consideration once 2025 is all said and done.
Alongside this news, a major free “thank you” update is planned for the game on all platforms, Kepler and Sandfall have announced. It’s set to include a new environment to explore, new late-game bosses to fight, new costumes to wear and more languages to play in, with localisations in Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian to be added.
“We spent years working on our dream project, and to know it has resonated with fans around the world in such a powerful way is both wonderful and overwhelming,” creative director Guillaume Broche added in a statement about the milestone. “We hope the update we’re working on will act as a ‘thank you’ to […] fans for their support—please be patient while our team work hard on bringing you something worth the wait.”
