Street Fighter 6’s Next Collab Is With A Super Famicom Visual Novel From 1994, Because Why Not

Street Fighter 6 is no stranger to collaborations—while not quite at Fortnite levels of crossover, so far the game has featured everyone from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Yor Forger from Spy x Family. However, its latest tie-in is definitely the weirdest one yet. Starting on October 15, Street Fighter 6 has a collab with the 30-year-old Chunsoft visual novel Banshee’s Last Cry.

Specifically, there will be a new scenario in the game’s World Tour single player mode called One Fateful Day, where the player works through a text-based murder mystery punctuated by fights where you control blue people. Additionally, players who log in from October 15 to April 30, 2026, will get “special items.” If previous collaborations are anything to go by, this will probably include title cards and other cosmetics. Lastly, the online Battle Hub area will also get a temporary makeover to match the vibe of the mystery game (basically, there will be creepy music, which is very fitting for Halloween).

Banshee’s Last Cry is a visual novel released for the Super Famicom in Japan on November 25, 1994. It follows a boyfriend-girlfriend pair who find themselves trapped in a ski lodge during a snowstorm. After they discover a note that says, “Tonight, at midnight, someone will die,” someone does in fact die, setting off one of those Christie-like murder mystery scenarios. The game received several sequels the series has sold over a million copies altogether.

While the game was originally only released in Japan, it eventually received a worldwide release on January 24, 2014, for iOS. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available on the platform (probably because of Apple’s odd fixation with removing old games from its store), meaning there’s currently no way to play the game in English through official channels. Is this unexpected collaboration a precursor for a re-release, or just Capcom being weird? It is truly anyone’s guess.
