Grand Theft Auto VI’s Second Trailer Shows A Modern Vice City And Bonnie And Clyde-Style Heists

This morning, Rockstar Games released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, showcasing this new version of Vice City, the game’s deuteragonists, and Stephen Root, the very first voice we hear, playing a scummy loan shark named Brian. In classic GTA fashion, the tease showcased plenty of sex and violence (in this case set to The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together”), but perhaps what stuck out most was the relationship between the game’s two leads, Jason and Lucia.

We see that Jason is stuck in the deeply unglamorous job of busting kneecaps to collect for Brian, going more or less nowhere as he drives down Vice City’s familiar streets. However, things may change when his partner Lucina finally gets out of prison. She has bigger plans, and while the trailer doesn’t give too much away, it very much seems like those plans involve Bonnie and Clyde-style high-profile robberies.

Beyond this, we saw more of this modern take on Vice City and its periphery, including sad convenience stores, waterfronts, and strip clubs. The game will be set across the state of Leonida, a very, very thinly veiled parody of Florida, which will presumably include all the low-hanging fruit that entails. Case in point, we saw a snippet of a commercial where a flag-waving gun store owner fires a heavy machine gun from a rooftop—while the trailer seemed slightly less juvenile than usual overall, it’s clear some of the series’ broad satire is here to stay.

Beyond the trailer, Rockstar also released character profiles and over 60 screenshots of the game on their website, which gives quite a bit of context for the cast. For instance, Jason’s profile tells us how he grew up around crime, tried to get out through the army, but eventually found himself back working for local drug runners. As for Lucia, she’s been throwing punches since she was a kid, and apparently ended up in prison after “fighting for her family.” It seems that Lucia’s main motivation is to finally give her mom a slice of the American Dream, and she’s willing to do just about anything to get there.

Beyond the main characters, the profiles also detail the extended cast, including Cal Hampton, a conspiracy theorist who looks like the most GTA character imaginable. There’s also Boobie Ike, a local hustler turned businessman who owns real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio. Dre’Quan Priest is an aspiring musician who has tried his best to keep out of trouble while climbing the local music scene. Finally, we’ve got Real Dimez, a two-woman influencer group that makes viral videos and writes raps, Raul Bautista, a seasoned bank robber, and the previously mentioned Brian, who is apparently an old-school drug runner that has Jason do shakedowns in exchange for a place to stay.

This trailer and info dump come after Rockstar Games announced last week that GTA VI is delayed from late 2025 to May 26, 2026. It is undoubtedly one of the most heavily anticipated releases on the horizon, coming off the 13-year wait from Grand Theft Auto V, which is the second-highest selling game of all time. Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer currently sits at 225 million views, making it the most viewed videogame announcement trailer by a hefty margin. Regardless, we’ll have to wait a little over a year to see if Rockstar’s latest can measure up to those massive expectations.
