Boys-Love Anime Go For It, Nakamura! Delayed To 2026

Yesterday it was announced that the upcoming BL romance anime Go For It, Nakamura! has been delayed from 2025 to 2026 due to “production circumstances,” as the show’s website puts it. The studio behind the adaptation, Drive, is also currently working on To Your Eternity Season 3, which is set for October 2025.

The Go For It, Nakamura! anime will be based on Syundei’s manga, which has been compiled into two volumes. Its story follows a closeted high schooler named Nakamura who has a crush on his classmate Aiki, as he gets into various antics while trying to get to know him better. The series has won praise for its sense of humor, depiction of queer themes, and old-school art style reminiscent of Rumiko Takahashi’s work. The manga’s original run was between 2014 and 2016, and its sequel ran from 2017 to 2021.

As for Drive, the studio was established in 2015 and has handled productions like To Your Eternity Season 2 and KonoSuba God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Season 3. Aoi Umeki (Pop Team Epic) will be directing Go For It, Nakamura! with Naoki Yoshibe (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) as the assistant director. Yasuko Aoki (KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!) will handle the script and series composition, and Yū Wakabayashi (Takopi’s Original Sin, Barakamon) will be the director of photography.

While it’s for the best that Drive is delaying the production instead of rushing it out amidst crunch, delays due to “production circumstances” are rarely a good sign for a studio’s scheduling tendencies. We’ll have to wait until next year to find out when the series streams on Crunchyroll. Thankfully, for those in need of some good new BL anime, The Summer Hikaru Died is excellent, although admittedly on the polar opposite end of the tonal spectrum from Go For It, Nakamura!’s much sweeter presentation.
