Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Gets January Release Date Alongside New Trailer

The third season of the uber-popular supernatural action anime Jujutsu Kaisen will premiere in January 2026, as confirmed during a recent livestream event. It will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll outside of Asia.

The full title of this upcoming run is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1, presumably meaning it will start to adapt the manga’s Culling Game arc, which goes from chapters 159 to 221. The anime left off at around chapter 137 and will likely also portray the short arcs between the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game.

As for the third season’s staff, the show will once again be animated by MAPPA, with season 2 director Shōta Goshozono returning to his role, and Hiroshi Seko coming back to handle the script and series composition. It will feature new character designers, with former animation directors Yosuke Yajima and Hiromi Niwa handling these duties. Yoshimasa Terui will also be returning to compose the series’ music.

In addition to the upcoming third season, a theatrical compilation film, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution -Shibuya Incident x The Culling Game Begins, is coming to Japanese theaters on November 7 before releasing in the rest of the world at a later date. The movie will summarize the events of the second season and the first two episodes of the third.

For those who haven’t watched the series, it follows Yuuji Itadori, a high schooler who stumbles into the world of Curses—malicious entities born from negative human emotions—when he becomes possessed by a powerful ancient entity. From here, he sets out on a journey to control this power by becoming a Jujutsu sorcerer, warriors who wield supernatural abilities in battle.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga concluded last year, running from March 5, 2018, to September 30, 2024, for 30 volumes. It has over 100 million copies in circulation, making it one of the most popular manga of all time. The anime adaptation’s first season began in 2020, and its second ran in 2023.
