Dan Da Dan Season 3 Announced

Dan Da Dan Season 3 Announced

Dan Da Dan’s second season wrapped up yesterday, but not before some exciting news: a third season has already been greenlit. While it isn’t exactly surprising that one of the most popular new anime adapted from a similarly popular ongoing Shonen Jump manga is getting another season, hey, it’s still nice to have that confirmation regardless.

The news came via the series’ official website, which offered the following message (at least according to Google Translate): “The production of the third season of the TV anime “Dandadan” has been announced! Along with the announcement of the third season, visuals featuring Momo, Okarun, and Turbo Babaa have also been released [shown above].”

Meanwhile, Science Saru, the studio that animated the first two seasons, posted the news on their website, confirming they will be working on the third as well. The studio has quite a few upcoming series, with Sanda coming out next month, along with The Ghost in the Shell and Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia slated for 2026. Considering that the studio generally puts out a maximum of two TV series in the same year, it seems quite possible that Dan Da Dan Season 3 may not be coming until 2027 at the earliest.

The Dan Da Dan manga began in Shonen Jump+ in April of 2021 and is still going strong after 20 volumes. Meanwhile, Science Saru’s adaptation started on October 4, 2024, and has run for 24 episodes thus far. The anime has currently adapted 71 of the ongoing manga’s 209 chapters, meaning it would take approximately another 48 episodes to catch up to where the manga is currently. Considering how animation-intensive many of these episodes are, it’s probably fair to guess that catching up may take a while, despite the studio putting out 24 episodes in just a year. Regardless, it’s nice to get a confirmation that more of this fun genre-pastiche is on the way.
