The manga is an action comedy described by its publisher Shueisha as follows: “Welcome to Kindergarten Noir, an exclusive school catering to children of the global elite. Rita, one of the teachers, has been on the hunt for a boyfriend but has had absolutely zero luck so far. One day, an assassin comes after one of the children…and he’s totally dreamy?! Dive into this action-packed rom-com as it unfolds inside the world’s “safest” kindergarten!”
The manga has been running since 2022 in the magazine Shōnen Jump+. So far, it has run for 15 volumes across 114 chapters. It is currently winding down, having entered its final arc this March, according to its author. The series also has an 180-page spin-off, Kindergarten Wars – Luke-.
As for its popularity, the manga currently has over 1.7 million copies in circulation. It also recently ranked fifth in AnimeJapan’s 2025 poll for “Manga We Want to See Animated,” which had over 150,000 total votes cast (for those who’ve never heard of it, AnimeJapan is a widely attended anime convention). It was only behind Nue’s Exorcist, Usotsuki! Gokuō-kun, Firefly Wedding, and Phantom Busters.
It’s been a busy week for anime announcements: in the last few days, Marriage Toxin, Apprentice Nail Artist in a Foreign Land, Gals Can’t Be Kind to Otaku!?, and Matsurika Kanriden all were announced to be getting anime adaptations as well.
