It seems a certain pirate ship continues to sail the high seas, and during this Sunday’s One Piece day livestream, it was announced that One Piece novel Heroines will be getting an anime adaptation. The following teaser illustration was posted on social media.

The light novel was written by Jun Esaka and illustrated by Sayaka Suwa, and it’s a collection of short stories focusing on the women of One Piece, including Nami, Robin, Princess Vivi, and Ghost Princess Perona. It was originally serialized in One Piece Magazine beginning in 2019 in Japan and was then compiled into a novel released in June 2021, and a second novel called One Piece novel Heroines [Colorful] released in March 2024. The second novel features Hancock, Tashigi, Reiju, and Uta. Viz Media released the first novel in English on April 22, 2025, and the second on July 22.

The adaptation has some exciting names involved, with the script being written by Momoka Toyoda, who handled those duties on the glowingly received One Piece Fan Letter. Haruka Kamatani (One Piece In Love) is directing with Takashi Kojima (Flip Flappers) handling character designs. A release date, format, and production studio haven’t been confirmed yet.

One Piece Heroines isn’t the only One Piece anime in the works, as beyond the ongoing 1,000-plus episode adaptation from Toei Animation, there’s also an upcoming from-the-ground-up remake called The One Piece from Wit Studio coming to Netflix, which will tell the story from its beginning.

And of course, there’s also the ongoing live-action Netflix adaptation, the first season of which came out in September 2023 to positive reception. The second season, One Piece Into the Grand Line is coming in 2026, with its first teaser recently shown. A third season was also announced during the livestream. While the manga is slowly approaching its conclusion, One Piece shows no signs of slowing down.
