Fans of Weirdo Anime Rejoice: Dorohedoro’s Second Season Finally Has A Release Window

The wait is (sort of) almost over. The second season of Dorohedoro has finally received a concrete release window; it’s coming out in Spring 2026. Based on the other shows releasing that season, this likely means it’s releasing in April. The series will have a “worldwide simultaneous release” according to the announcement, meaning that the streaming services that grab it for specific regions (Netflix for North America) won’t be pulling any delayed-release funny business. The show’s official Twitter channel confirmed the news alongside a new key visual, which is shown below.

For those who don’t get why this is a big deal, the short answer is that Dorohedoro is a very good anime, and we’ve been waiting half a decade for more of it. After a long wait, it was originally slated for a 2025 release date, but was then delayed. Based on Q Hayashida’s 23-volume manga, which ran from 2000 to 2018, the anime was a manic, bizarre, and hilarious genre mish-mash starring a man with a lizard head, Caiman, who was on a quest to discover why he has a lizard head. Specifically, he has amnesia, and he’s searching for the sorcerer (these are powerful beings created by demons) who did this to him. His methodology for finding the sorcerer in question is to stick a given suspect into his giant mouth so the “man inside his throat” can identify if they’re the one responsible or not—this is as odd in practice as it sounds in theory.

As Caiman fills in the gaps in his memory, he learns more about a world where humans are oppressed and impoverished underneath a class of sorcerers who treat them like lower beings. From here, he becomes entangled in conspiracies, crosses paths with assassins, and more. Also, there’s a very good baseball episode.

The second season of Dorohedoro will once again be produced by MAPPA, who’ve finally decided to descend from their ivory tower of high-profile battle shonen to give us another season of this weirdo production. While the full staff hasn’t been announced yet, we know that the director of the first season, Yuuichirou Hayashi, will be returning to his role, which is certainly a good sign.
