Nintendo Announces My Mario, a Product Line for Young Children

It’s a big day for young parents and trinket fans, at least in Japan. Nintendo just announced My Mario, a new product line targeted toward young children, which features some of the most adorable Mario merch to date. It will go on sale on August 26 in Nintendo’s Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto stores, and select items will be released worldwide next year.

The highlight of the lineup is a wood block set that also doubles as amiibos. There are two sizes available; the first is the Mario Wood Block Set, a three-piece suite featuring Mario, a 1-Up Mushroom, and an Item Block, which will retail for 2,980 yen ($20). The other is a gorgeous 30-piece Mario & Friends Wood Block Set that includes the aforementioned three alongside Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi, as well as more items, an adorable background, and floor pieces. This diorama will retail for 19,980 yen ($135), and someone should buy it for me, please.

Next up is a board book called Hello, Mario! published by Shogakukan Inc. The book, which will also be available at some Japanese bookstores, lets readers play with Mario’s face in a manner reminiscent of the Super Mario 64 title screen. It will be priced at 1,870 yen ($13). The book will also be joined by a free app of the same name, available on smart devices and the Nintendo Switch, which will also let you stretch and pinch Mario’s face.

Another part of the My Mario series will be a collection of short stop-motion videos that each run for about a minute. The It’s Me, Mario! videos will be free on the My Mario website and other channels.

You can check out the rest of the product line, which includes baby apparel and dinnerware among other items, on the My Mario Goods website.
