Minecraft Reveals New DLC Collaboration with Dragon Ball Z

The anime studio Toei Animation has fusion danced with Mojang to bring Dragon Ball Z to Minecraft in a new DLC. The DLC bundle is out now, the latest of many Minecraft collabs, allowing players to enter the World Martial Arts Tournament and battle through competition with iconic characters and locations from the beloved shonen series. Previous collaborations include Hello Kitty and Friends, as well as Star Wars

The DBZ DLC features 1v1, co-op, and 5v5 free-for-all battle options. Players will start in a blocky Minecraft version of Kami’s Temple, and choose from a roster of characters from Dragon Ball Z, such as Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan, Piccolo, Frieza, Trunks, and more. The announcement on the official Minecraft website even boasts that some characters come in Super Saiyan form.

Characters can be unlocked and available to battle with once they have been defeated, and each one has their signature fighting abilities that can be used in battle, such as Goku and his Kamehameha or Vegeta and his Ultimate Final Flash. The battles are also set in different locations from the popular anime series, such as the Cell Games or Planet Namek, all recreated in Minecraft in its signature cubed look. I guess it should be called “Dragon Block Z” now.

Beyond the World Martial Arts Tournament, the DLC comes with some general content for Minecraft players. Those include a Scouter headband cosmetic for players and a number of character skins. Both of these can be used in personal realms and servers, with currently available skins including Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Bulma, and Frieza. The official announcement highlights that “every famed combatant” is included in the skin pack.

The Dragon Ball Z DLC is out now for Minecraft Bedrock edition for $8.99. The Scouter headband cosmetic is free until Dec. 4th, 2025, and available for purchase thereafter.
