Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Gets January 8 Premiere Date

The upcoming season of one of the most popular anime series around now has a release date: Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is set to arrive on January 8, 2026. The news came alongside the confirmation that Crunchyroll will be streaming the series exclusively. MAPPA studio released the following teaser visual to celebrate the news.

As implied by the above teaser, the next season will see series protagonist Yuji Itadori face off against Yuta Okkotsu, the main character of the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

For those entirely unfamiliar with the series, it takes place in a world where humans known as Jujutsu Sorcerers utilize Cursed Energy, which naturally materializes from humans’ negative emotions, to battle supernatural beings and each other. The protagonist, Itadori, is forced to become a Sorcerer after a sudden run-in with a powerful Cursed object.

The manga began in March 2018 and ran until September 2024 for a total of 30 volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. It has rapidly become one of the highest-selling manga of all time, with over 100 million copies in circulation. The anime adaptation from MAPPA began in 2020 and was followed by a prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which came out in 2021, and a second season that aired in 2023.

The third season will largely be adapting the Culling Game Arc, which ran from chapters 151 to 211 (out of 275) of the source material. The anime previously left off at around chapter 137. While an episode count for the third season of the show hasn’t been confirmed yet, if it’s another 24-episode batch, it seems that the series could potentially wrap up with a fourth season and maybe a movie. Bringing an ongoing anime TV series to the big screen is all the rage these days thanks to Demon Slayer’s success, and Jujutsu Kaisen already did this with Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Related to that, the compilation film Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution is currently airing in Japan, which summarizes events of the previous season and includes the first two episodes of Season 3. The film will open in North America on December 5, letting viewers see part of the upcoming season before it airs on TV.
