Trump Admin’s AI-Generated Halo Memes Lead to a Tweet Likening Immigrants to Parasitic Aliens

In its latest stunt, several Twitter accounts run by the Trump administration have piggybacked on the recent announcement that Halo is coming to PlayStation to liken Donald Trump to the Master Chief, and compare immigrants to the Flood, the parasitic alien species that serve as the series’ antagonists.

The nonsensical online saga began after GameStop posted a declaration on the end of the “Console Wars” on Twitter. This was in response to the recent announcement that Microsoft’s longstanding flagship series, Halo, would be coming to PlayStation with the recently announced Halo: Combat Evolved remake.

The Trump Admin’s Rapid Response 47 Twitter account then responded with a Tweet that read “NUMBER 9: President Trump presides over the end of the 20-year Console Wars.” GameStop responded with the following AI-generated picture of Trump shaking Master Chief’s hand in the Oval Office.

At this point, the White House’s Twitter account posted an AI-generated picture of Trump as a saluting Master Chief—this certainly isn’t the first time the administration has used AI-generated images for propaganda purposes, and it won’t be the last. It should be noted that the comment section under the post is filled with people asking about the Epstein Files, and an AI-generated video of Master Chief Trump’s armor falling off as he runs away in his underwear.

GameStop responded to the White House’s post with more AI-generated slop, again with Trump as the Master Chief, but this time with JD Vance as Cortana as well. The headshot used for Vance is a heavily photoshopped image that’s been making the rounds to make fun of the Vice President.

However, as things tend to go with this administration, the deeply stupid, but only mildly offensive exchange suddenly took a dark turn as the Department of Homeland Security’s Twitter account weighed in yet again with a deeply xenophobic post. The image linked below features a screenshot from Halo with the text “DESTROY THE FLOOD” and “JOIN.ICE.GOV.”

Considering that ICE is responsible for deporting immigrants, it’s clear that the DHS account is likening immigrants to the Flood, a parasitic alien species that aims to destroy the universe.

It isn’t the first time the account has used video games to peddle its fascistic message, and the account previously tweeted a video of ICE arrests set to Pokémon’s “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” theme.

Journalist Alyssa Mercante reached out to the Trump administration about its usage of Halo memes. She received a response from White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai that read as follows: “Yet another war ended under President Trump’s watch—only one leader is fully committed to giving power to the players, and that leader is Donald J. Trump. That’s why he’s hugely popular with the American people and American Gamers.”

Clearly, the Trump administration’s social accounts continue to tweet these gaming-related posts in an attempt to appeal to the contingent of right-wing gamers who curate those lists of “Woke” games on Steam, or who are likely to hurl racial epithets in multiplayer lobbies.

Meanwhile, Microsoft, which is still subject to an ongoing BDS boycott for its involvement in Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians, has refused to comment on the situation. Microsoft previously contributed $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund and was on the list of donors for Trump’s $300 million ballroom, which is replacing the East Wing of the White House.
