Everything Revealed At Gamescom Opening Night Live

Today was the opening night of Gamescom, one of the gaming industry’s biggest conferences that’s held in Cologne, Germany every year. This year’s event runs from August 20 to 24 and is seeing record attendance, with pre-event coverage priming many observers for a busy week of game announcements, news, and whatever else folks have been keeping tight-lipped. This left the opener with a lot of hype to meet, some of which host Geoff Keighley caused by proclaiming that 2025’s opening night lineup would be one of the best ever. With that in mind, here’s what Gamescom’s opening night delivered (outside of a stellar Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 musical performance).

Hollow Knight: Silksong Confirmed To Be Coming In Late 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong started ONL, with confirmation that the game is coming this year. While there is still no official release date, a playable demo will be available at Gamescom at Xbox and Nintendo booths. Additionally, Team Cherry, the team behind Hollow Knight, has announced a special stream on Thursday August 21.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Officially Announces November 14 Release Date

The next entry into the massively popular military shooter series will be coming to players on November 14. The campaign can be played solo or with up to four players across locations including but not limited to Los Angeles, Tokyo, Angola, and a new location called Avalon. More information will be revealed at the Call of Duty Next event on September 30.

Resident Evil: Requiem Shows Off New Gameplay Trailer

Resident Evil fans can satiate their hunger for the next entry for a bit longer with a new trailer shown at the end of ONL that shared a deeper look at its story alongside a brief glimpse at gameplay. A playable demo is available at Gamescom.

Silent Hill f Shares A New Story Trailer

The next entry in the renowned survival horror series has revealed more about its story ahead of its September 25 release date. It showcases protagonist Hianko Shimizu’s fighting and running away from more twisted horrors as her hometown Ebisugaoka continues to be plagued by a mysterious fog.

Onimusha Way of The Sword got a new gameplay trailer revealing more enemies, more erratic action, and a re-confirmation that the game is coming in 2026.

Disco Elysium developer Studio ZA/UM showed off new game Zero Parades with a teaser trailer.

A demo for Daemon X Machima: Titanic Scion is now available.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle DLC The Order of Giants is getting a September 4 release date, and the original game will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando gets a new gameplay trailer and an early 2026 release window.

A new game was announced from veteran developer Ron Gilbert called Death By Scrolling, a roguelike vertical side-scroller RPG.

World of Tanks announces a huge 2.0 update for September 3 with more tanks and new features.

A new team-based shooter called Time Takers where time is a player’s resource was announced.
