Marvel Rivals Season 4 Trailer Reveals Daredevil and Buff Angela As Next Two Characters

Marvel Rivals continues its breakneck pace, and today, Netease Games dropped the announcement trailer for Season 4: The Heart of the Dragon, which is releasing on September 12. The impressively animated video shows off two heroes who will almost certainly be the next playable characters added in the upcoming season: Angela and Daredevil.

As for the designs of these two, Angela has clearly been hitting the gym, and if I had to guess, her very cool, very muscular design is likely geared toward her being a tanky Vanguard class character. Meanwhile, it’s probably fair to assume that Daredevil will be another damage-oriented Duelist.

Not too long ago, NetEase announced that they’d be aiming to release a new character every month, and it appears they’re on track to continue doing just that: Phoenix came out in July, Blade in August, and now either Daredevil or Angela will likely launch with Season 4 in September. New seasons for the game now run for two months, with a new hero introduced at the start and middle points of each. In other news, the trailer also stealthily announced that Rivals will be coming to PS4, as its logo is seen at the end.

While Marvel Rivals has very much found an audience, the game has also received some flak for continuing to add so many Duelist characters to the game. For context, the game currently has 22 Duelists (DPS-oriented characters), 10 Vanguards (tanks), and 9 Strategists (healers). In class-based games like these, it’s always a struggle to get teammates to play healers or tanks, and the game’s DPS-oriented roster certainly doesn’t help with this.

Beyond this, another major criticism has been matchmaking woes, with the current system spawning conspiracy theories that it uses “engagement-based matchmaking,” which prioritizes keeping players coming back over providing “fair” matches. It will be interesting to see how the studio responds to these criticisms (if at all) in its upcoming seasons.
