Sword of the Sea, Mortal Kombat 1, and Spider-Man Coming to PlayStation Plus in August

On August 13, Playstation’s Director of Game Services Adam Michel announced on the publisher’s blog that the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue for August will see the likes of Sword of the Sea, Mortal Kombat 1, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Earth Defense Force 6 coming to the service.

This turns August into a heavy-hitter month for PlayStation Plus users, as several of the games have received critical acclaim and were met positively by most players. Sword of the Sea, an upcoming game from developers of ABZÛ and Journey that has received positive buzz from previews due to its gorgeous aesthetic and meditative surfing, will be available day one with the other titles. Additionally, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be available for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. All of these games will be available to play Tuesday, August 19.

The blog also shares that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be available on the same day as a Game Trial, meaning players can get five hours into Kojima’s latest baby-carrying project before they must purchase the full game to continue. Players that do so will be able to transfer over their progress and trophies. Other games that will be available for Playstation Plus members in August include Indika, Unicorn Overlord, Atelier Ryza 3 Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, Harold Halibut, and Coral Island

All of these add to what’s been an interesting 15th year for PlayStation Plus. August alone, prior to this latest announcement, has seen the standout, Pinocchio-themed souls-like Lies of P join the monthly games catalogue alongside DayZ and My Hero’s One Justice 2. Before this, PlayStation Plus members have also had the opportunity to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077, Risk of Rain 2, Blue Prince, God of War Ragnarök, and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, just to name a few. It seems PlayStation is intent on ensuring the chance to celebrate at five years intervals does not go to waste, as each month has given PlayStation owners another reason to consider PlayStation Plus outside of playing games online.
