The announcement promises over 30 minutes of gameplay that will showcase a playthrough of Bond’s first mission as an M16 recruit. Viewers can expect “everything from high-speed car chases to on-foot stealth sequences and shootouts,” as well as insights from IO Interactive after the playthrough on the gameplay.
Bond has been on player’s minds a lot more recently, and not just because of the usual casting rumors. Since first being revealed at PlayStation’s June State of Play, there’s been growing interest to see how the developers behind the Hitman franchise will tackle bringing an uncharacteristically young Bond to the modern gaming era. While snippets of gameplay have been seen, the announcement trailer focused mostly on setting expectations for what kind of Bond players are meeting in the future action-adventure game.
007 Franchise Director Jonathan Lacaille told Gamesradar+ during Summer Game Fest that the game won’t eschew the studio’s style, but that the team “had to come up with a lot of new things that IOI had to learn and to reiterate on to really bring the Bond experience.” He mentioned driving specifically as something IO Interactive had to learn since none of the Hitman games allow players to bring their mayhem to any roads.
While 007 First Light has been getting marketed heavily through PlayStation events, the game is set to release in 2026 not just on PS5 but also Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Game Store. Longtime fans and potential new ones of the Bond franchise will be able to learn more about his next gaming venture tomorrow at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT on YouTube and Twitch.
