Specifically, two early game bosses will have their difficulty reduced: Moorwing and Sister Splinter. Moorwing is a big flying bug who stalks Hornet in Greymoor, and Sister Splinter is an acrobatic foe with some big narrative implications. Additionally, the Sandcarvers, the evil little bugs that basically act as platforming hazards in the Blasted Steps, will have their damage reduced. Presumably, this means they’ll do one mask of damage instead of two.
There will also be some mild changes to the game’s economy, with slight reductions in mid-game Bellway and Bell Bench prices, along with a minor increase in rosary rewards from relics and psalm cylinders. Basically, some things will be cheaper, and you’ll get slightly more rewards.
Beyond these changes, there are also a long list of bug fixes, with some adjustments for quest-breaking issues. If you’re playing on PC, you can access all the changes right away by opting into the public-beta branch.
It should be noted that while these updates will likely make things a bit easier, they’re honestly fairly marginal changes in the grand scheme of things. While Moorwing and Sister Splinter are tricky, I would argue they’re not the hardest foes in Act 1 (The Judge says hello). There are so many bosses in the game that changing these two probably won’t make a huge difference. Beyond this, one of the reasons Silksong is tricky, especially early on, is that you have relatively low health to navigate screenfuls of enemies, some of which deal two pips of damage in a single blow.
While the initial response to Silksong has generally been positive, the game’s difficulty has been controversial, with many going as far as creating and using mods to make it easier. While there are very justifiable narrative reasons for why this experience is so tough, the game should probably include adjustable difficulty settings so Team Cherry doesn’t need to create patches that attempt to keep both groups happy.
