Rick and Morty Creator Justin Roiland Starts VR Game Studio with Former Epic Games Producer
Images via SquanchtendoWith a name that sounds like a horrible Rick and Morty alternate-dimension videogame console, Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland has teamed with former Epic Games executive producer Tanya Watson to form Squanchtendo. Focusing solely on VR games, the team’s very Rick and Morty-esque mascot Splzooshly says they’re going to make games with “strong story, characters, and gameplay.” Which, frankly, isn’t exactly a lot to go on.
A lifelong gamer, Roiland doesn’t seem to have any previous game design experience besides working with studio Crows Crows Crows on short VR experiences like Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist. Watson, on the other hand, worked at Epic Games for ten years on games like Gears of War 2 and 3 and Bulletstorm, eventually reaching the position of executive producer.
