Pokémon GO Has Added New Pokémon from Gold and Silver
Image via Niantic/NintendoThis is not a drill, people: there are new Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Niantic announced today that Togepi and Pichu, along with “several more select Pokémon,” are now available in the game, making them the first Pokémon from the second generation of games, Pokémon Gold and Silver, to make their way into Pokémon GO. The Pokémon aren’t roaming in the wild just yet, so you’ll have to get them through egg hatching. Also, as an added treat, there’s a unique Pikachu wearing a “festive hat” that’s also available to catch.
Kei Kawai, director of product at Niantic, Inc., said of the new additions:
As we race toward 2017, we can’t help but feel grateful for the support and reaction the Pokémon GO community has given us, and we’re delighted to start rolling out select Pokémon for them to hatch. We’re also looking forward to celebrating the season with our community by introducing a Pikachu wearing a festive hat, providing Trainers the opportunity to get out and explore their neighborhoods with friends and family as they gather for the holidays.
