Every Major Announcement From PlayStation’s September State Of Play

After a fairly up-and-down month for Sony, from the highs of Astro Bot to the lows of the PS5 Pro’s hefty price tag, the company’s latest State of Play livestream thankfully fell mostly in the former camp. We got quite a few new game reveals, some DLC announcements, and dates for upcoming releases.
Ghost of Yotei, Sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Announced
Sucker Punch is following up their 2020 open-world game Ghost of Tsushima with an indirect sequel, Ghost of Yotei. Set in 1603, hundreds of years after the previous entry, we’ll be taken to Hokkaido, a region that was primarily inhabited by the Ainu ethnic group at the time. Even speaking as someone who didn’t get into the first game, the art direction in this trailer here was quite attention-grabbing, and the new protagonist looked cool. The game is currently slated for 2025.
Alan Wake 2: The Lakehouse DLC Revealed
The next add-on for Alan Wake 2 was revealed, and it looks like we’ll be visiting a shadowy version of Control’s Oldest House. After its playful previous expansion, we’re quite excited to see how the latest addition turns out when it’s released in October.
Free Astro Bot DLC Announced
Astro Bot is a delight, and it looks like some free DLC is on the way. Specifically, we’re getting a new speedrunning mode alongside some additional special bots, like Eve from Stellar Blade, and the ill-fated Helldivers.
The Midnight Walk, New Game From Lost In Random Developers, Announced
The Midnight Walk, a Tim Burton-esque “dark fantasy adventure” from the studio behind Lost in Random, was shown off for the first time. Its stop-motion-inspired look and strong sense of ambiance certainly left an impression. It’s set for 2025.
Hell Is Us Gets New Trailer
The somewhat surreal action-adventure game Hell is Us got its first trailer in about two years, and it continues to have some eye-catching imagery that makes it seem like it could be fascinating to explore. It’s also planned for 2025.
